Detailed Plot:
The friendly neighborhood Woodcutter introduces us to
the story (ONCE UPON A TIME) and also to Little Red. We
see right away that she is a typical, fun-loving little
girl (LITTLE RED). As she’s talking to all the animals
in the forest, her mother calls her inside to do her
chores and prepare some goodies for her grandmother (DO
YOUR CHORES). Little Red sets out for her Grandma’s
house on the other side of the forest, enjoying all the
animals and flowers along the way (LIFE IS MORE THAN
FATE). Further down the path, we meet the Wolf. He is a
very silly, bumbling sort of fellow who tries very hard
to be scary– but fails miserably. He soon smells the
goodies in Little Red’s basket (FOOD!) and literally
bumps into her. Much to the wolfs chagrin, she is not
the least bit afraid of him. He decides to do whatever
he can to get a hold of the goodies in her basket. After
he gets her to tell him where she’s headed, he tricks
her into stopping along the way to pick some flowers
(STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES) while he high-tales it ahead
of her. When he arrives at Grandma’s house he pretends
to be Little Red. She suspects something is up, so she
asks him to pick some greens from her garden. When the
wolf returns with the greens, Granny is no where to be
found. When her hears the real Little Red knock on the
door, the Wolf puts on Grandma’s robe and glasses and
jumps into bed. Little Red enters and notices something
strange about the little old lady (MY, OH, MY). The Wolf
snatches up Little Red’s basket and begins devouring all
her goodies. Meanwhile, Grandma appears from the closet
and escorts Little Red to safety. The Wolf is soon
sleeping soundly and his snores are heard by the
Woodcutter. Upon investigating the loud snores, he
discovers the Wolf and assumes something terrible has
happened to Grandma. Just as he is about to use his axe,
Grandma and Little Red appear from the closet and
convince the Woodcutter not to harm the wolf. She tells
them that the Wolf has already been taught a lesson. The
greens Grandma told him to pick were actually poison
ivy– and now the Wolf is in agony (ITCHIN’ AND
SCRATCHIN’). Only after the Wolf promises not to ever
steal goodies again does Grandma give him some calamine
lotion. While the Wolf is getting relief, Grandma and
the Woodcutter help Little Red learn that she needs to
be more careful talking to strangers because he could
have been a mean wolf instead of a silly one. (ONCE UPON
