Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland
[Adapted from the Lewis Carroll novel by Kevin M Reese]
Detailed Plot:
After an introduction by the narrator, Lewis Carroll,
himself (WONDERLAND), we meet Alice as her sister is
giving her lessons. Sissy argues that Alice must give up
her imagination and whimsy for rules and logic– a
thought Alice passionately rejects. Alice is soon off
into her usual dream world (THIS IS BORING) when she
suddenly catches a glimpse of a White Rabbit. She
follows the rabbit into a hole and is transported to a
very strange, very silly Wonderland. Once there, the
White Rabbit informs her that he is late and that the
Queen will have his head, then is off again. Alice
ponders the silly situation she is in (TYPICAL ALICE)
and decides she should head for the Queen’s palace.
Soon, a Caterpillar with a bubble pipe appears who
insists on speaking everything in rhyme (THE RHYMING
SONG). Alice decides to play along and gets the
Caterpillar so confused, he will probably never be able
to rhyme again! Next she comes to a door attended by the
Dormouse who can’t decide which side of the door he
should be on. Continuing on, she once again stumbles
upon the White Rabbit and Dormouse, this time they are
joined by the Mad Hatter. The three are having a Mad Tea
Party (TEA TIME) and resent Alice wanting to join the
fun. Suddenly, the Queen of Hearts appears and Alice
finds herself in the middle of a very silly trial of the
Knave of Hearts (a child in the audience!)– who is now
missing. When they finally find him (HIDE AND GO SEEK),
Alice finds herself in the role of defense attorney.
After a series of very silly testimonies– even by the
Queen herself– the Queen faints in frustration and Alice
takes the opportunity to escape back to her world
