Beginnings/Purpose

My name is Kevin M Reese. I am a professional playwright and market my shows under the banner of KMR Scripts. I've been writing musicals for Wichita Children's Theatre for the last 13 years. I began as a member of their Touring Company back in 1988 and evolved into becoming their Tour Manager, Director and finally, their resident playwright (even though I move around from state to state). For years Monica Flynn, WCT's Executive Director, and I have tossed around the dream of touring a musical about Kansas History to the schools around the state. Last year, Monica (half-teasingly) asked if I was still interested. I said YES. Now it's too late to change my mind. Ha!

I've accumulated a few books and clippings over the years about Kansas, thinking that if I ever DID write the show, I'd have some material to begin with. I now know that no matter what I include in the show, there will be teachers and parents who will undoubtedly disagree with what I chose to include and omit. I have decided to contact as many teachers who deal with 5-8 graders as I can and "pick their brains."

This blog will be used to document my progress and allow anyone interested to make comments and suggestions along the way.

I am new to "blogging" and trust that you will be patient with my learning process.
